Oxygen XML Web
Author version 18.0.0 is the latest major release for the innovative web-based authoring
tool. Its powerful technology and adaptive interface allows you to review, contribute, and
edit content from anywhere, on desktops, tablets, or mobile devices. It includes a variety
of new features and improvements to make your authoring, collaborating, and reviewing
experience more efficient and productive than ever before.
A Tags Display Mode feature was added that allows you to control the
amount of markup that is displayed in the editing pane and you can now edit the XML source
code of a document in a text editing mode.
Oxygen XML Web Author now officially supports DITA 1.3 as well as Lightweight
DITA.
A new reply to comment feature was also added that allows you to
collaborate more easily and effectively with others through comment threads and you can mark
comments or changes as being resolved.
This new version also includes various performance and security improvements and some
new API methods were added to allow you to further customize Oxygen XML Web Author.

Reply to Comments & Mark as Done
You can collaborate with other members of your team more easily, taking
advantage of the improved annotation support. You can now reply to comments added by
others and you can also start new comment threads. Everyone that has access to the project
can see the comment threads and join the discussion at any time. The Mark as
done option allows you to mark a discussion thread as being completed. This is
useful for marking comments that have been addressed, leaving only those that still need
some attention.
Edit MathML Equations
You now have the ability to insert MathML equations. You can simply tap or
click an equation to open an editing dialog box that allows you to edit the XML source
code for the equation. For a more advanced MathML editor there is available a 3rd party
plugin from
WIRIS.
Text Editing Mode
The Oxygen XML Web Author now allows you to edit the XML source code in a
text editor. The Edit as XML action switches the document to a text
editing mode where you can see and edit the source code.
Multiple Tag Modes
You now have the option to change between different tag mode visualisations of
the edited content. There are a variety of tag modes that allow you to control the amount
of markup that is displayed. You can choose from the following tag modes: Full
Tags with Attributes, Full Tags, Block Tags,
Inline Tags, Partial Tags, or No
Tags.
Insert DITA Topic References and Cross References
Actions were added to help you easily add topic references and cross
references. When editing DITA maps, an Insert Topic Reference button on
the toolbar allows you to insert a reference to a specific topic. For editing DITA topics,
an Insert Cross Reference button allows you to create cross reference
links to other resources.
Support for the Latest DITA Standards, Including Lightweight DITA
The DITA support has been updated to the latest versions, including support for
DITA 1.3 specifications, Lightweight DITA, and DITA Open Toolkit version
2.2.3.
Report Problems
An option has been added to the toolbar that allows you to submit problems that
you encounter while using the product. The form includes various tabs to allow you to
choose the amount of information to be sent to our technical support team.
API: Display Reason for Read-Only Status
The
WSEditorPage.setReadOnly API was added to allow you to
specify a reason for a document being set as read-only. The message is displayed to the
user when trying to edit the document.

Content Completion
Customization of Content Completion Proposals
The elements and attributes that are proposed in the Content Completion
Assistant
can be customized for each framework by using a configuration file. You can
configure the values that are proposed, customize the elements or attributes that are
proposed, or specify a global list of elements or attributes that will be available for a
particular framework.
Schemas
Multi-Lingual Support in Schematron Validation Messages
You can now specify a language to be used for Schematron validation messages
with an option in the Schematron preferences page and they can be
presented in multiple languages by defining the language for each message using Schematron
diagnostics.
