Oxygen XML Author 12

September 14, 2010

User Interface

Open/Find Resource   [read more...]

Oxygen provides a quick way to locate and open files from the project or from the current DITA Map, based on an index of the project file paths and DITA map references. This action is available as part of the File menu.

Filtering Support in the Outline View   [read more...]

You can control which elements are displayed in the Outline view by entering element names in the filter box at the top of the view. If you type a text fragment in the filter box, the view only displays the relevant components. In the following image, the element name figure is entered in the filter box, thus all elements corresponding to that name are displayed in the Outline view. For more advanced filtering, you can use wildcard characters (*,?) and separate multiple patterns with commas.

Error Markers in the Outline View   [read more...]

The Outline view displays XML validation errors and warnings by marking elements that have problems with a red or yellow icon. Additional details in regards to an error is displayed in a tooltip, as illustrated in the following image.

Profiling/Conditional Text   [read more...]

Profiling text is a way to mark blocks of text meant to appear in some renditions of the document but not in others. For example, you can mark a section of a document that is to be included in a manual to be designated for 'expert' users and another section for 'novice' users, while unmarked sections are included in all renditions.

Oxygen offers generic conditional text support for any XML documentation framework (including DITA and DocBook). All you need to do is define the profiling attributes and their corresponding profiling values in the Profiling/Conditional Text preferences page. You can also customize your own set of profiling values and condition sets.

Profiling/Conditional Text   [read more...]

Oxygen offers full support for DITA conditional text processing. Profiling attributes can be managed easily to filter content in the published output. You can toggle between different profile sets in the Author mode to see what will be included in the output.

DITA Map to WebHelp   [read more...]

In addition to the standard DITA-OT transformation scenarios, Oxygen can convert DITA Maps to desktop and mobile WebHelp systems, providing a website-friendly presentation of the DITA content featuring a table of contents, index navigation, search capabilities, and the possibility of interacting with end users through a feedback system.

DITA Map Validation and Completeness Check   [read more...]

To help keep all the topic references consistent when working with large DITA maps, Oxygen provides validation and completeness checking for the entire topic hierarchy of the DITA map. This action is available from the DITA Maps Manager toolbar and from the contextual menu.

DocBook Profiling/Conditional Text   [read more...]

Oxygen offers support for DocBook conditional text processing. Profiling attributes can be easily managed to filter content in the published output. You can toggle between different profile sets in the Author mode to see what will be included in the output.
