Very slow file opening in macOS Sequoia

Post by mboudreau »

I have Oxygen XML Editor 27.0 installed on an iMac running macOS Sequoia (15.3.1), and ever since I upgraded the macOS from Sonoma to Sequoia, I find that the first time Oxygen opens a file, it takes more than a full minute to open. Oxygen itself starts up in just a few seconds, as usual. And after the first file is open, other files open right away. But the first file always takes a very long time. I get the same result regardless of whether the first or subsequent files are XML, HTML, or something else.

Has anyone else reported a problem like this? Is there a solution?

Hello,
I find that the first time Oxygen opens a file, it takes more than a full minute to open.
Are you referring to double clicking a file in the Finder that starts Oxygen or starting Oxygen and then opening a file within it?
In the former case there is the application startup to take into account, so 1 minute may be expected in some situations.

Where are the files you open located (locally, some remote "drive", mounted network location)?
If the opened file refers other remote resources, it can take some time until all indicated resources are retrieved.

Hi Adrian,

I'm referring to opening a file after Oxygen has already started. On Sequoia, Oxygen takes only a few seconds to start, just as it did on previous versions of macOS.

After Oxygen is running, opening an XML file on the Desktop, with no remote resources required, took 75 seconds when I tested it just now. However, after closing the file, re-opening it took only a few seconds, and opening a different file also took only a few seconds.
