Build Notes for Version 17.1 of Oxygen XML Editor/Author/Developer

JSON/Grid: When modifying a JSON file in Grid mode, strings got cast to specialized types.

OS X/Java SE 8/Author: For the Java SE 8 distribution of OS X images could not be pasted in the Author mode.

Options/Frameworks: Fixed a rare occurrence in which the edited framework file was erased from disk when changed in the Document Type Association preferences.

Content Completion: Fixed a NullPointerException that could occur when hiding the content completion window.

Eclipse: The Master Files support was not working if the name of the project did not match with the name of the folder in which the .project file was located.

Security: Due to security reasons, access to remote resources was denied without notifying the user when validating with Schematron.

Author/Security: Fixed cases when, due to security reasons, access to remote resources was denied when trying to access them using the "${xpath_eval()}" editor variable function as the value of a parameter, in an AuthorOperation implementation. The same happened when trying to access remote resources through the "oxy_xpath()" CSS function.

Author/DITA: Improved compliance with the DITA specification on insertion of a reference to a topic when using the "keyref" attribute - the ID of the topic is not used anymore, only the key name.

Author/DITA: The title for a glossentry element was not set when created using the New Topic dialog box from the DITA Maps Manager.

WebHelp: The footer was removed from the left-side pane when switching between the Content/Index/Search tabs.

WebHelp: The links from the Table Of Contents were broken if the paths to the topics from the map contain empty spaces.

WebHelp: index_frame.html file did not work because the value of the "args.outext" parameter was ignored.

Command line tools: The "flattenSchema", "schemaDocumentation", "stylesheetDocumentation", and "wsdlDocumentation" command line scripts (.bat and .sh) were giving licensing errors when the working directory was different from the installation directory.

OS X/Java SE 8: Updated the bundled Java runtime from the "OS X 10.8 and later" distribution to Java SE 8u72. This resolves a problem where dialog boxes that were shown as a result of a drag and drop operation could not be interacted with (appeared unresponsive).

Options: The overall headings for the option panes in the Preferences dialog box were not displayed properly for the Japanese language.

Schematron Quick Fixes (SQF): Abstract quick fixes did not work if they were defined in global groups because the abstract parameters substitution was not performed when the fix was inside an sqf:fixes element.

Author: Fixed "Problem while reconstructing deleted change content: null" warning (silent NullPointerException error) that appeared when loading an XML file in the Author mode or using "Paste as XML", if the option "Compatibility with other tools" was set to "Break lines only after elements displayed as blocks, do not indent" (Editor > Edit modes > Author).

Author: SurroundWithFragmentOperation did not correctly handle the ${caret} editor variable.

Author: URL values returned by the ${ask} editor variable used in AuthorOperation parameters were not automatically XML-escaped.

Author/CSS support: Fixed NullPointerException error that appeared when the CSS parser could not recognize a '@media' rule.

DITA Maps Manager: Remote DITA maps whose URLs contain a query were not presented in the "Root map" drop-down list.

WebHelp: Fixed handling of URLs containing a second hash tag (#), if it gets escaped (%23).

WebHelp Mobile/DITA: Nested (second-level) lists were not displayed in the published output.

Author Component: Allow quick fixes to be applied in the Author Component application from the Author SDK.

Windows/Project: When deleting a file or folder from the disk in the Project view, a confirmation dialog was always shown that indicated a permanent file deletion, even though the result depends on the 'Recycle Bin' settings.

Author mode: Fixed a NullPointerException error that could appear in certain cases, when the associated CSS used the 'oxy_xpath()' extension function.

DITA: Fixed DITA + MathML publishing using DITA-OT 1.8.5 and specific MathML DTD specializations.

DITA Maps Manager: Fixed an IndexOutOfBoundsException error that could appear when applying a profiling condition set on a DITA Map opened in the DITA Maps Manager.

DITA Maps Manager: Fixed a NullPointerException error that appeared when trying to rename a DITA map opened in the DITA Maps Manager.

WebHelp: Improved search score computation to promote results containing all the searched words, when not explicitly using the AND operator.

WebHelp: Fixed JavaScript error that appeared when foot note references were used.

WebHelp: Some of the occurrences of the searched words were not highlighted in the content.

WebHelp/DITA-OT 2.x: Take into account image scaling when publishing DITA to WebHelp output using DITA-OT 2.x.

WebHelp with Feedback/LDAP: When configuring LDAP with Active Directory, users from nested groups were not listed.

Eclipse/Author/Preferences: Fixed an invalid preferences page ID that caused the "Trusted hosts" preferences page to be misplaced.

Eclipse/XSL: Fixed an issue that caused the syntax highlighting to break.

Eclipse/XSL: Holding Ctrl and hovering with the mouse over a template name no longer highlighted/underlined the name of the template.

Eclipse/XSL: Error/warning markers could get duplicated and the duplicates were not removed even after the errors/warnings were fixed.

Author/API: When double-clicking on an element tag, you can use the following extensions to intercept the event and present a custom dialog box:

Author Component: Fixed a NoClassDefFoundError that appeared when pasting content copied from Word.

Options: Fixed IndexOutOfBoundsException that appeared when adding a new element in the list of elements for which line breaks should be inserted (Options > Preferences, Editor > Format > XML, "Line break" tab).

EPUB: Fixed "ClassNotFoundException - net.sf.saxon.om.Name10Checker" error that could appear when validating some EPUB 3.0 documents with EpubCheck.

Author/Find All Elements: Fixed a NullPointerException error that appeared when using "Find All" on documents without a document type (framework).

Author/DITA: Renamed the action "Insert/Edit content reference" to "Edit content reference". The action is now only available for elements with "conref" or "conkeyref" attributes.

Author/CSS: Fixed not() pseudo-class matches.

WebHelp with Feedback: Notifications for replies to comments were not sent.

DITA/WebHelp: When a ditaval file was used for filtering, a FileNotFoundException: \${dita.input.valfile.url} error was reported and filters were not applied on the TOC .

DITA/WebHelp: Fixed a FileNotFoundException error that appeared when collecting indexterms, because read-only resources where not excluded.

DITA-OT 2.x: Added default attribute values to DITA 1.3 XML Schemas shipped with DITA-OT 2.x.

DITA-OT 2.x: Properly display relationship links in the output when using reltables.

DITA-OT 2.x: All related links defined in the reltable from all categories are now presented for each topic.

DITA-OT 2.x: Fixed NullPointerException error that appeared when publishing with DITA topics containing a document type declaration (doctype) without a public ID.

Windows/GUI: Resolved some GUI look and feel issues when running Oxygen over a remote desktop connection (forced Windows Classic theme).

Open URL: Fixed IllegalArgumentException error that appeared when trying to open a remote file from a server with a hostname that contains the '_' character.

Text mode: Changed keyboard shortcut for the "Convert Hexadecimal Sequence to Character" action, Alt+X to Ctrl+Shift+X, to avoid losing the keyboard focus.

OS X/GUI: Small design changes of the mode selector (Text, Grid, Author, Design) for a better integration with the system theme.

OS X/Shortcut keys: The default keyboard shortcuts for some actions were changed to avoid conflicts with system keyboard shortcuts.

Web Proxy: Fixed 'AccessControlException: access denied' errors when the proxy was set to 'Manual proxy configuration' and 'No proxy for' was used.

Windows/Linux/Light Theme: Titles of the application views were not displayed properly for the Japanese language. Welcome screen section titles were also affected.

OS X/GUI: The currently active view was not highlighted.

OS X/Light Theme/Java 6: The border of tooltips was not rendered properly.

OS X/Light Theme: Hovering a toolbar button now displays a border around it instead of a background color as highlight.

XQuery/Validation: Validating remote XQuery files requested an unnecessary confirmation of the connection to the server.

XSL Validation/Transformation: Fixed some 'AccessControlException: access denied' errors when validating and transforming after a validation.

XHTML: Initial edit mode for XHTML documents was set back to "Text" mode (from "Author").

Author: Fixed a NullPointerException error that could appear when selecting table columns in the Author preview panel from various helper dialogs.

DITA Maps Manager: Various GUI fixes in the 'Edit properties' and 'Insert reference' dialogs.

DITA Maps Manager/Edit properties: A DITA map was presented as modified in the DITA Maps Manager if the properties editor dialog box for an "href" reference was closed without actually doing any changes.

DITA Maps Manager/Edit properties: The Metadata tab panel was not properly reconfigured when editing properties for a topicref and changing the reference type.

DITA Maps Manager: A key reference to a keyword was not resolved properly, if the contained topicmeta was preceded by an XML comment.

DITA Maps Manager: Fixed a NullPointerException error that appeared while refreshing key references.

DITA Maps Manager: Avoided a NullPointerException error that appeared when trying to determine the context node.

Author/DITA:Document filtering preview did not work as expected when using DITAVAL files with system entities linking to text files.

DITA publishing: When using DITA-OT 2.x with experimental DITA 1.3 DTD support the reltables are taken into account when publishing.

DITA publishing: Fixed publishing with DITA-OT 2.x when using inner topics and DITAVAL filters.

Author/XQueryUpdateOperation: The context node was not identified if the document is in a default namespace.

Linux/Windows XP (unsupported OS)/Startup: Fixed a NullPointerException error that prevented the application from starting due to an unavailable system font.

The initial build of <oXygen/> version 17.1.

Author/Breadcrumb: Fixed a NullPointerException error that appeared when having content selected in the Author mode and using the 'Append child' action from the contextual menu of the breadcrumb.

Author/DITA: Properly show referenced content when a reference had both @href and @conref specified on it.

Author API: Properly notify API save listeners for maps opened in the DITA Maps Manager.

Options: The options were reset when the preferences file got corrupted after saving a code template containing certain character combinations within a CDATA.

Windows/HiDPI: Improved detection of HiDPI on Windows.

Editor variables/${ask}: For the ${ask} editor variable when used with the 'radio' type, the default specified option was not selected implicitly in the dialog.

Convert protocol: Java conversion provider stage for the 'convert' protocol properly uses the Oxygen class loader.

Schematron/Validation: Schematron modules were not validated against a Schematron master file because the default validation scenario from the Schematron document type had priority. The validation scenario is no longer default.

Schematron/Format and Indent: Fixed format and indent in XPath expressions from report/@test and assert/@test.

Document Types/Frameworks: Be more permissive in locating icons for Author actions from frameworks created in older versions of Oxygen.

Document Types/Frameworks: Fixed issues in computing the proper changes to be applied when expanding document type/framework configurations.

DITA/DITA Map Document Types: Added more document type association rules in order to be more flexible when recognizing DITA topic or map content.

Author/Smart Paste: Copying table data from MS Excel and pasting it in the Author mode did not generate a table structure.

Author/DITA: Properly render properties table hat has @spectitle attribute set on it.

Author/DITA: Properly detect link keyref format when computing displayed link text.

Author/DITA: Fixed an EmptyStackException error that could appear when opening a DITA document in the Author mode.

Eclipse plugin/Author/DITA: When editing DITA maps in Author editing mode, in Eclipse, the attributes rendered for each topicref had overlapping characters.

Eclipse plugin/Author: Avoid rare situations of class loading issues when displaying SVGs in the Author visual editing mode with various third-party Eclipse plugins loaded in the workbench.

Eclipse Author plugin: The 'XML Refactoring' preferences page was not positioned correctly within the 'Oxygen XML Author' preferences section.

Eclipse plugin/Author API: API callback "ActionBarContributorCustomizer.customizeDITAMapsManagerMainToolbar" could not be used to filter all the toolbar actions.

Oxygen SDK/API: Fixed NullPointerException error that appeared when loading a layout via API.

Oxygen SDK/API: Fixed the order of notification events when opening files. The protocol handler retrieved the document content before calling WSEditorChangeListener.editorAboutToBeOpenedVeto().

WebHelp: Allow search for words of one or two characters (for Japanese language).

WebHelp: Moved 'meta' tags before 'script' tags in WebHelp generated pages (index.html, index_frames.html) so that IE > 7 does not ignore them.

DITA/WebHelp: Internationalization of the titles of the main tabs (Content, Search) did not work for the 'WebHelp Mobile' and 'WebHelp with Feedback' outputs.

DITA/WebHelp: Fixed TOC issues generated by improper filtering of 'preface' and 'notices' elements from the source.

Author/DITA: The default CSS styling for editing DITA content now shows all XML comments (even those before and after the root element).

Author: When using Copy/Paste on a fragment that was in a specific namespace, the pasted fragment had empty namespace.

Author/Form controls: Fixed an issue with the Pop-up form control (oxy_popup) when it was configured to sort the values from the list.

DITA Maps Manager/Author: If a DITA map was opened both in the DITA Maps Manager and in the main editor, any errors reported by "Validate and Check for Completeness" were removed and replaced by the ones (if any) reported by the automatic validation of the main editor.

Content Completion: Fixed a NullPointerException that could occur when hiding the content completion window.

Schematron Quick Fixes: When inserting an element with an attribute, if the attribute was declared in the schema as required, the attribute was inserted twice.

Options/XML Refactoring: Editor variables could not be used in Preferences, XML > XML Refactoring to specify the location from where to load additional refactoring operations.

Locking local resources: Avoided a few situations that resulted in files remaining locked even after closing, when the "Lock local resources" option is enabled (Preferences, Editor > Open/Save).

Diff Files: Fixed a NullPointerException error that could occur in some situations when using the "Format and Indent Both Files" action.

Editors layout: If the editors layout became out-of-sync with the list of editors to be loaded, all editors were presented as tiled.

XSLT Debugger/Saxon 9: Fixed an "Internal error evaluating function" error that could occur when stepping inside a user function.

XQuery/Syntax Highlight: The XQuery syntax highlight would break in some cases.

XQuery/Syntax Highlight: Fixed a regression in the syntax highlight that caused proprietary XQuery Update statements (as used by eXist-db or MarkLogic XQuery) to be presented as syntax errors (red).

XSL/Syntax Highlight: Syntax highlight was broken for map declarations with multiple entries.

LESS: When generating the CSS, a comment was inserted before the @charset declaration which broke the CSS text encoding and also made it invalid.

LESS: Updated LESS CSS to 1.7.5.

Graphite Theme/UI: Text from disabled fields was illegible due to similar colors for text and background.

Graphite Theme/Author: Read-only areas from the Author mode were undistinguishable from editable ones when using the Graphite theme.

Graphite Theme/OS X: Icons in table column headers were not visible.

Graphite Theme/OS X: The sorting marker was not displayed in the table header when a column was sorted.

OS X/Data Source Explorer: The shortcut keys for the Copy/Cut/Paste actions are now correctly mapped as Command+C/X/V.

Notifications: Improved representation of notifications.

WebHelp: The output for Arabic and other bidirectional languages was not right-to-left oriented.

EPUB: When validating an EPUB with EpubCheck, a ClassCastException error was reported.

Linux/Fedora 21: The "Edit Attributes" dialog from Author and Design modes became blank after the first use.

Find: Find > "Find All Elements" did not work on documents without a document type association.

Text mode: Restored the "Transparent Markup" option from the "Tags Transparency Selector" toolbar list.

Startup: Fixed an "IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 4, Size: 4" error that could occur at startup, if the "Transparent Markup" option had been selected in an older version.

File History: Fixed an "IllegalArgumentException: index greater than the number of items." error that could appear when the file history was updated.

Validation/Schematron: The errors reported when validating an XML against Schematron did not contain the systemID of the schema being used.

Author/DITA/Print: When printing a DITA topic that contains a prolog element, the prolog block was blank.

Author/AutoCorrect: Fixed some positioning issues when using AutoCorrect with track changes enabled.

XQuery/Format and Indent: Improved line breaking when formatting expressions placed between curly brackets.

Options: A new option pane, Editor > Format > XPath, was created for the option "Format XPath code embedded in XSLT, XSD and Schematron files".

Notifications: Fixed some issues with the order of the notification messages.

Predefined Layouts: The "Author" predefined layout was not updated with the new toolbars.

Eclipse/OS X/Retina: The Design (XML Schema) and Grid modes were unusable on a Retina display.

Eclipse/EPUB: When validating an EPUB with EpubCheck, a ClassCastException error was reported.

Eclipse: The ${pd} editor variable could not be used in the path of the 'DITA-OT directory' from the DITA preferences page.
