webhelp responsive top menu is too sensitive and disappears too easily

Post by qualler »

Hi,

We've gotten feedback from users that the top menu disappears too easily. We have some large doc sets and when someone has gone a few levels deep and moves their mouse a nanometer 😀 they don't like when the whole menu disappears on them. I've look in the help and other forum posts and don't see this issue anywhere. Is there some "hover" value that can be easily changed to let the menu stay on screen even if the user moves their mouse off of it?

Hi Justin,

Thank you for the feedback!

Indeed, our current implementation of the WebHelp menu is based on the hover state of the elements.
And yes, once the boundaries of an element from the menu are exceeded, the menu closes (disappears).

I logged an improvement request in our internal improvements tracking system, so our development team will analyze alternatives to display the menu in a different fashion.

We will notify this thread if/when we will have a different implementation.

Hi,

Just to update the thread, this problem has been resolved in the latest version (v24.0) of Oxygen XML:
What's New in Oxygen XML Webhelp 24

Let us know if you encounter further problems with the new version.
