Allow editing of reused content even when file is not in review task
Post by dreifsnider »
My DITA documentation includes many conrefs and conkeyrefs.
When testing Content Fusion using a trial hosted server, it looks like reviewers cannot provide comments or edits in the reuse source content when I don't include those source files in the review.
The problem I have is that its a lot of effort to identify each individual source file that contains content I'm reusing via conref, and then include these files in the review task.
For context, my method of reusing content is 1 topic per 1 reused element. Essentially, my review task might contain only 5 DITA topics, but each of those 5 topics might use content from around 20 other DITA topics that are not included in my map and are stored in another directory/repository.
I would like my reviewers able to edit or provide comments on all the content I'm using in my review task, regardless of whether the actual file is included in the review task.

Re: Allow editing of reused content even when file is not in review task
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback. We will add the possibility to edit also the topics that are referenced in the review files (we will update this forum thread when it will be implemented).
One question related to this improvement: do you want to be able to edit also the topics that are linked with xref (or only the one that contain content reused via conrefs)?
Best Regards,
Mihaela

Hi Mihaela,
Thank you so much for your reply, and my apologies for my delayed response.
That's great to hear that you will add the possibility for reviewers to edit the topics that are referenced in the review files!
In terms of your question about also including topics linked with xrefs, I think this would be a great addition as well. I can't imagine a use case where we would not want this.
I also imagine this feature would include a boolean yes/no parameter to enable or disable the possibility when creating the review task.
Thanks again!
Daniel

Hi,
We just released the 1.2 version of Content Fusion and it contains the improvement you requested: for DITA documents that contain content references the reviewer can now choose to open the referenced documents in editing mode.
Here is the list of what is new in this version:
