6.2 Upgrade: "Metal" Look and Feel on OS X
When I upgraded to 6.2, the Metal look and feel changed dramatically. The reason I had selected Metal in the previous version is that Metal widgets are considerable smaller. In 6.2, the Metal widgets are just as big and bulky as the OS X ones. I work on a small laptop screen most of the time...
Is there a way I can get the old Metal theme on oXygen 6.2 ?
Thanks

Hello,
Did you change also the Java version ? What is the Java version reported in the About dialog in both 6.2 and the version that displays smaller widgets ? The widgets size should not be different with the same Java version.

Sorin

They are not only smaller, they are different. The new ones have a soft gradient in the back. I tried switching the JVM settings from 1.5.0 to 1.4.2 and relaunched oXygen. The gradients were gone but the widgets were just as big. It proves that the JVM version has *something* to do with it, but then I also use Aqua Data Studio, another multi-platform java app, and it has no problem with the metal theme (it looks just like oXygen 6.1).
Any thoughts ?

Hello,
I can see only two differences in the size of UI components between versions 6.1 and 6.2 with the same font set in both versions and with the Same font for the GUI option enabled: the title bar of the views is larger with one row and the combo box of the XPath console of the XPath toolbar is also larger with 2 pixels. The title bar of views is larger because version 6.2 introduced a dockable framework that allows you to drag views and leave them in a floating state or dock them to other margin of the editor window and to set them in an auto-hideable state. Do you see other differences ?
