Printing problem causes Oxygen to crash
Has anyone had a problem with Oxygen crashing and disappearing from the Windows desktop when printing XML files?
I'm not sure of all of the conditions.
There may have been a problem with my networked printer earlier today, but even after that, Oxygen crashed when printing an XML file using the File -> Print... menu. Sometime Oxygen did not crash, but the file did not print either.
Does (or can) Oxygen check driver errors and avoid crashing?
What else might be causing this?
Not printing is better than crashing and not printing.
Has this been observed by others?
I'm using Oxygen 9.1 build 2007121915, on Windows XP SP 2.
Thanks, Mike

Hello,
It seems a problem of accessing the Windows print service by the Java virtual machine. Please make sure that you have the latest printer driver from the printer manufacturer installed on your Windows machine. If you already have the latest driver for your printer model you should try to run Oxygen with a different version of the Java virtual machine. See the User Manual for instructions about how to set a specific Java version for running Oxygen (the first note of the installation procedure).
Regards,
Sorin

Re: Printing problem causes Oxygen to crash
I switched to JVM jre1.6.0_05 and things worked much better.
The printer is a networked one, so I assume the driver is current.
Anyway, this may explain previous crashes, and certainly helped yesterday.
Because Oxygen is using a JVM beyond its control, I don't suppose Oxygen can detect a printing problem and handle the exception.
Thanks for the suggestion.
