Empty Transformation Scenarios

Post by SteveH »

I have versions of Oxygen 9.1 on Windows and OS X but at the moment the Transformation Scenarios under the OS X version are coming up empty. The Windows version has around 14 pre-defined entries that have come to expect in previous versions.

Is there any way to re-import these scenarios? I’ve tried removing the app and re-installing but the situation remains the same.

Hello,

The list of scenarios displayed in the dialog Configure Transformation Scenario depends on the type of the currently edited document. There are predefined scenarios for XML documents but there are no predefined scenarios for XSL documents. What is the type of your current document when you invoke the dialog?

I am opening an XML document of the same type on each OS. When I do this under Windows I have a range of Transformation Scenarios from Docbook 4 -> Docbook 5 Conversion through to xml-stylesheet processing instruction available. About 14 in total.

Under OS X the list is empty.

Hello,

What is your oXygen version and build number? They are displayed in the About dialog opened from menu Help -> About. What is the full name of your current file edited in oXygen when the Configure Transformation Scenario dialog is displayed on your Mac OS X computer?

Starting with version 9.1 when the predefined document types were introduced for the Author (WYSIWYG) mode the Configure Transformation Scenario dialog always contains at least the read-only scenarios of the predefined document types. For example if your current document is a Docbook XML one you should see at least the scenarios of the Docbook document type which are called Docbook HTML, Docbook PDF and Docbook 4 -> Docbook 5 Conversion.

Did you edit the predefined document types in Options -> Preferences -> Document Type Association? If yes please reset the document type of your currently edited file by pressing the Restore Defaults button of the Preferences panel and open the scenarios dialog again.

I've just upgraded to 9.2 on OS X and still have the same problem. The difference is visible in the two screenshots below.

I'm a bit of a novice at this stuff but can just about handle the basic XML -> HTML transformation I require.

I would like to have the opportunity to play around with the Docbook stuff though.

Hello,

The Windows dialog that you posted cannot be from version 9.2 because the scenario dialog of version 9.2 lists only the transformation scenarios of the document type of the current XML document and the global scenarios. It does not mix the scenarios of two different document types, in your screenshot DocBook and TEI.

You can reset the list of transformation scenarios by renaming or removing the folder with your Oxygen preferences which is located on Mac OS X in the Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml subfolder of your home folder and restarting Oxygen. The license dialog will be displayed again on the next startup and all the user preferences including the list of scenarios will be reset to the default value.

Can you send us a zip archive with your Oxygen preferences folder before renaming/removing it from disk? We will try to see why you do not see the scenarios in the scenario dialog on your Mac computer.

I've emailed the contents of the preferences to you.

Unfortunately it didn't sort out the problem to delete this folder.

Hello,

In the preferences of version 9.2 you have the RAZOR scenario which was imported correctly by upgrades from an older version to version 9.2. Also there is a scenario called AP50002378_Main_ZTG_SELF_TEST_Report%5B1%2000%2047%20PM%5D%5B1%2030%202008%5D which was created in version 9.1 but it is not a valid scenario because the XML URL field contains the value RAZER (HTML) which is not a valid URL. This scenario was not imported in version 9.2. The other scenarios were predefined scenarios in an older version and they are present too in version 9.2 but now they are included in the document types predefined in Options -> Preferences -> Document Type Association (the Transformation tab of the dialog for editing a document type). For example the DocBook 5 scenarios are displayed in the dialog for applying a transformation scenario in version 9.2 only when the currently edited document is a DocBook 5 document. Versions 8.1 and 8.2 for example did not have document types so all the scenarios were displayed for any current document that was edited.

So in your Oxygen preferences files I see that you do not have a valid transformation scenario that you created in a previous version of Oxygen and that is missing in one of the versions after the document types were introduced, for example versions 9.1 and 9.2.

Normally all the scenarios imported from older versions should be displayed in versions 9.1, 9.2 etc as global scenarios, that is they should be displayed for any type of document that is currently edited. This is what you get on your Windows computer too. We will try to find why that does not happen on some Mac computers after an upgrade to version 9.2.

This wasn't quite the case, the RAZER transformation scenario wasn't imported into 9.2 I had to set it up again.

Hope this helps.

In that case the scenario RAZER created by the user (that is not a predefined scenario) in an old version (version 8.1) was not imported correctly in recent versions (9.0, 9.1, 9.2) on your Mac computer. Please use the new RAZER scenario which you created in version 9.2 until we find why it was not imported correctly.
