No Menus or Interface Displayed

Post by wvh »

I am running Oxygen on a 32-bit Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) system with 4 GB of memory and java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.13. I recently upgraded to Oxygen 9.1. After doing so, I no longer see anything after starting Oxygen - the standard size window displays, but there are no menus, no view, etc. It's completely blank. I see the initial tool top, but that is it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hello,

Do you run the Compiz window manager or the Beryl one? If yes you have to disable the special effects of Compiz/Beryl before starting oXygen or use other window manager. There is a known problem of empty windows in running Java applications on a Linux system with these window managers.

That was the problem!

That was it. On the System -> Preferences -> Appearenance dialog's Visual Effects tab, I changed from Custom to None, and voila! A GUI again.

Thanks very much!
