Speeding Up Editing in oXygen by Hiding Images

Post by Edward213t »

Hi everyone,
I’m fairly new to using oXygen, and I’ve run into a bit of a challenge. I’m working on a document that contains a large number of images, and editing it in Author view has become really slow and frustrating. Every time I scroll or make changes, the program lags, which makes it difficult to focus on the text itself.
I know that switching to Text view could help with performance, but I'm much more comfortable working in Author view, where I can see the layout and structure more clearly. I was wondering if there’s a way to hide or temporarily disable the display of images in Author view so I can work faster without affecting the document itself.
Ideally, I’m hoping for a solution that doesn’t require editing CSS or making complicated changes—I just want a simple toggle or setting that improves performance while I’m editing.
Has anyone found an easy way to do this, or are there tips for speeding up Author view when a document has lots of images? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Edward,

Could you give me more details?
What version of Oxygen are you using?
Are you working with content opened from a remote storage server (like a content management system) or from the local disk?
The problems you encounter are not related to the actual opening of the XML document, right?
About how many images are there in the document? What image formats?
What type of XML document are you editing? Do you have a custom CSS for rendering it in the Author visual editor mode?
Do you have multiple images referenced in paragraphs? If for example you are in a text paragraph, do you still have a delay editing inside it?

Radu
