.....ditamap does not appear to be a DITA map error

Post by Stacey »

See screenshot.
I did a Windows update today.
I was using 28 fine before the update. It updated and I was seeing this error message. Something about .CSS being incorrect was showing in files as well.
The .ditamap file works fine in 27.
I am now seeing a different error when I try to doubleclick on my 28 icon to open oXygen Editor.

Hi,
About the two problems:
The .ditamap file works fine in 27.
In such cases you should check in the Oxygen Preferences->"DITA" page, see if you have changed the default DITA OT installation folder and if the referenced installation folder still exists.
I am now seeing a different error when I try to doubleclick on my 28 icon to open oXygen Editor.
That's strange, could you uninstall Oxygen 28 and re-install it? You will not lose settings, they are stored separately in the user home folder. Maybe some sort of Windows service has made changes in the Oxygen installation folder.

Radu

Well, that was weird.
I went to uninstall and the v28 was not on my list (I think I had the 5 prior versions - I don't typically uninstall when I install a new version).
When I went to the oXygen website to try to download and clicked on the download link, it timed out (see error). I had a similar issue yesterday when I was trying to post in the forum.
So I used the v28 that I downloaded last week. It asked if I wanted to use the v28 folder, but didn't give me any other error messages (so I assume the folder was empty).
After it installed, I can access the same .ditamap fine and was able to open linked files, so i think everything's okay now.
I don't remember any messages suggesting I accidentally uninstalled the application, so I'm not sure what happened beyond the Windows update.

Hi Stacey,
Strange about the Oxygen download from our mirror web site not working, can you try again these links out of curiosity?
(1)
https://mirror.oxygenxml.com/InstData/E ... penjdk.exe

(2)
https://www.oxygenxml.com/InstData/Edit ... penjdk.exe

And tell me which one works for you, on my side both work but I'm located in Europe so there might be access problems in other parts of the world.

I'm glad the installed Oxygen 28 works good for you though!

Radu

Hi Radu:
Yes, they both seemed to work. And I was able to get the original to download again as well.
Thanks,
Stacey

Hi Stacey,
Thanks for double checking this, there was indeed a problem with our web site hosting provider yesterday, with some parts of the world not being access to access some of our servers, but the problem was fixed.
