Diff Directories: Add Include folders capability
Hello,
may I ask to to consider to add "Include folders" capability do Diff Directories? Today, Include files, Exclude files, Exclude folders are already provided by Diff Directories.
Include folders would be used as compare only specific folders anywhere inside tree structure starting from selected relative root directory (folder) within physical directory or ZIP (archive) file. For example anywhere in the tree structure could be some recurring file set, and only these defined "Include folders" sets the user want to compare, other ones want to ignore.
Regards, Stepan

Re: Diff Directories: Add Include folders capability
Hello again Stepan,
You could use the "Exclude folders" option to perform the comparison only on the sub-directories of interest.
The viability of this approach depends, of course, on how complex the structure of the main directories to be compared actually is, and on the number of sub-directories of interest versus the number of sub-directories that should be excluded from the comparison.
Anyway, there is already logged such a request in our system, I will increase its 'reports count' field.
Best regards,
Teo

Re: Diff Directories: Add Include folders capability
Hello, Teo,
unfortunately I can not use "Exclude folders" option, because it is exactly as You suppose - I have extremely large (> 2^16) and complex main directory and or ZIP file (yes, OXYGEN-TS-6520 it is me). Included subdirectories are quite few (up to to 10 directories), excluded subdirectories with unique names are thousands.
So "Include folders" is the only viable solution, that is why I asked for this RFE.
Best regards, Stepan

Re: Diff Directories: Add Include folders capability
Hmm, so you (OXYGEN-TS-6520) are the reason I've been "bombarded" lately with forwarded emails from the tech support account and/or forum posts with various issues and improvement requests related to our diff tools.
I've had this suspicion from the beginning, you know, since my first reply on forum this morning.
Now, joking aside, we will definitely address the requirements and issues you brought up.
I think they will be resolved and available in the future version of Oxygen.
One last thing, regarding one of your remarks today "I need to Copy&Paste values from an outside editor".
Do you have idea how many times a day I use a simple editor like Notepad++ in my interaction with the applications (other than Oxygen) that I use daily in my work?
I'm telling you, very many times.
I'm not kidding, Notepad++ seems to be the almost perfect companion in a world full of imperfect applications.
Best regards,
Teo
