Oxygen vs. Word 2003 notation for attaching schema
Post by RickMeyers »
Newbie question. I'd like to edit XML documents in both Word 2003 and Oxygen. I'm having trouble discovering notation for attaching a schema to XML documents that is recognized by both Oxygen and Word 2003. Any suggestions? Thx.

Hello,
An XML Schema can be attached to an XML document in oXygen only as the XML specification from W3C suggests and as the Associate Schema action available on the toolbar does. Also a DTD can be attached to an XML document only as the XML specification requires, that is using a DOCTYPE declaration as the Associate Schema action does in oXygen. The Associate Schema action is available also on the menu Document -> XML Document. Other possibility is to create a default association in oXygen without changing the document in Options -> Preferences -> Editor -> Default Schema Association between any Word 2003 XML document and the XML Schema for such a document based on the root element name and namespace.
oXygen can associate also other types of schemas to the XML document like Relax NG, Schematron, etc. but these types are not supported by Word 2003.
Regards,
Sorin
