Is safe to migrate user settings from 7.2 to 8.0?

Post by tatra603 »

Hello!

I am saving my personal setings inside install directory of oXygen (to be oXygen portable). So I start oXygen with parameter "-Duser.home="userData"". Now I switched from 7.2 to 8.0. Is it safe to simply copy 7.2's userData direcotry into 8.0's userData directory? In other words - are settings upward compatible (content and structure)?

Thank You. Stepan

Hello Stepan,

Yes, oXygen 8.0 will import automatically your oXygen settings saved by the previous version of oXygen that it can find in the specified folder.

I had some problems with preferences and functionality when upgrading from 7.2 to 8.0 (OS X standalone version). For example, some of the menu shortcut keys no longer worked, and also no "Refactoring" menu appeared after right-clicking selected text.

Deleting my old ~/Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml directory, forcing oXygen to recreate a new one, solved those problems.

Ignore the previous comment. The problem was that I wasn't in fact editing XML source (I was editing an XQuery file with embedded XML.)
