Passing custom parameters to cover

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to add a header to the cover page of XHTML output by customizing map2html5-cover.xsl.
To achieve this, I need to pass one of our custom parameters to map2html5-cover.xsl, but I can't figure out how. Our custom parameters are used in dita2html5Impl.xsl, for example, without any problems. But for some reason, I can't get the parameters to pass to map2html5-cover.xsl.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
