Using Automated Proofreading Add-ins in Editor

Post by fabdf »

Hi,

Just wondering whether we can install automated proofreading add-ins like Grammarly in Oxygen Editor. If so, how can we do this?

Thanks,
Fabio

Hi Fabio,

Oxygen has API which would allow such a plugin to be implemented but as far as I know there is no plugin for Oxygen which would use Grammarly.
There is a plugin allowing Oxygen to use the commercial Acrolinx term checker.
And there is also a plugin for connecting Oxygen to the LanguageTool server:

but I do not remember testing it in detail.

Hi -- This post originated in 2017. It is 2021. By now surely we would have a means of using Grammarly in Oxygen? PLEASE can someone let me know how to do that? I would make my own post but apparently, I am too new or something???

Hi,

For a long time Grammarly had no API allowing a third party tool to use it.
I think they added the API this year in beta stage, at some point I tried to register for accessing it but I never received an email back, so this is not entirely our fault. I will try to register for the API again and I will also add your feedback on the internal issue we have on our side for considering Grammarly integration.
Probably you will need a commercial account with Grammarly to use the API and also the API will send the content to proofread on their side so there may be also some privacy concerns.

Our own Oxygen terminology checker add-on:
https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... addon.html
supports some of the Vale grammar rules and Vale seems to be working on rules similar to what Grammarly has:
