Exporting a the names of topics in a ditamap to excel
Post by Mark Hartz »
I've seen a lot of topics on exporting/importing to Excel, but not for this use case.
I am trying to create a spreadsheet of topics within a DITA map to Excel. This is for an online portal, where we need to create a classification map for all topics within a book. This classification map must be in Excel.
Theoretically, the files in this book would be exported:
c_copyright_notices
r_document_conventions
etc.
Is this possible?

And appear in excel as:c_copyright_notices

Re: Exporting a the names of topics in a ditamap to excel
Hi Mark,
We do not have something like this available out of the box.
At some point I created a DITA OT publishing plugin which merges the entire DITA Map contents in one file, and as a possible application I created an XSLT stylesheet which creates an HTML table with all the topics:
https://github.com/oxygenxml/dita-merged
I presented this idea at the DITA OT Day Meetup in 2019:

Once you have an HTML table, you can copy and paste it directly in Excel to create the equivalent cells there.
Regards,
Radu
