How to open local files from Git History

Post by catherine »

Hi, I am using Git Client on Oxygen XML Editor.
After checking Git history, I right-click a changed file record, then select "Open".
But I only get a read-only file.
Is there any way that I can directly open the relevant local file from the git history?

Best Regards,
Catherine

Hello Catherine,

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this at the moment, but I created a new improvement request (ID: EXM-47571).

As a workaround, you could use the "Open/Find Resource" side-view (https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... -view.html) or the dialog with the same functionality (https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/ ... ialog.html).

All the best wishes,

Thanks for your suggestion, Sorin Carbunaru.
But it is not an efficient way, hope you can improve the git client function.
Thanks anyway.

Hi Catherine,

We use the Git Plugin quite a bit in our company. Can you help me understand why you are trying to modify a file in your history?

Hello,

In the recently released Git Client plugin 3.0.0 we added an Open working copy version action to the contextual menu for resources associated to a revision in the Git History view. I hope helps!

You can use the Help -> Check for new add-ons updates... action to update to the new version.

Best regards,
Alex
