Copy as XML feature

I'd like to be able to copy an element in Author view as XML, so that when I paste it elsewhere I get the full XML output, not plain text.

I realize one can copy from Text view. However, in Text view I can't select items by element. In Author view I can select a whole section or chapter element and then paste it.

Hi,

Thanks for the improvement request, I registered it into our system. As a workaround we have plenty of Java-based API which would allow you to implement your own custom "Copy as XML" operation and place it in the contextual menu, so if you are interested I could try to give you more details about this.
Also as a hint in the Text editing mode you can triple click an element's tag to select the entire element or use the Outline.

We released Oxygen 23 which added in the main menu "Document->Edit" a "Copy as XML" action.
