speed of content completion in Oxygen 22

Post by Wolfhart »

Hello,

I recently upgraded from Oxygen 10 to Oxygen 22 (on Ubuntu 16.04). I am facing the following problem: Over many years of using Oxygen 10, content completion has become an integral part of how I use the editor. For example, I am used to entering "<l" and hit Enter in order to produce a <link> element. Now, the problem is that, in Oxygen 22, the content completion pop-up does not come up as fast as in Oxygen 10, such that, at the speed at which I am used to typing "<l"+Enter, I do not get a <link> element, but only "<l" plus a line break. Put differently, in Oxygen 22 I have to type "<l"+Enter more slowly for content completion to work. My question is the following: Is this simply due to Oxygen 22 being slower than Oxygen 10, in which case I would just have to get used to typing more slowly, or is there something I can do to speed up content completion?

Thanks in advance for your reply!
Best regards,
Wolfhart

Hi Wolfhart,

In the Oxygen Preferences=>"Editor / Content Completion" page there is a setting named "Activation delay of the proposals window". If you set it to "0" does the content completion window appear faster? I think that we somehow considered that if end users type very fast the < followed by text, they do not want to wait for us to show the content completion window as they will insert the tag by themselves.

Hi Radu,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Yes, the setting you indicate appears to solve the problem. I am happy to see that there is a setting for this, rather than it being due to the speed of the program.

Thanks again,
Wolfhart
