Index "preview"

I'm converting a set of documentation topics from Markdown to DITA. I'm using Oxygen XML Author 22.1.

Two of the output formats for this DITA source are:

• PDF with a "back-of-book" index

• HTML with an Index pane

In both cases, the index is looking pretty sparse right now, because the newly converted DITA lacks <indexterm> elements. I'm populating them now in the several hundred DITA topics.

Rather than waiting to see the index until I run a transformation scenario, I would like a pane (view) while editing in Oxygen that shows a live, dynamic "preview" of an index generated from the map currently open in the DITA Maps Manager. This would help me to build consistent hierarchies of index terms across topics as I add the <indexterm> elements.

Hi Graham,

I'm sorry but we do not have such a feature in Oxygen. I added an internal issue with your idea and if we manage to implement it in a future version I will update this forum thread.
