oXygen 7.1 slow startup

Post by morrisoc »

Hello,

I am experiencing very slow startup times for oXygen 7.1.

I launch Oxygen, the progress bar appears, and progresses normally until "80% Creating Menu Actions..." at which point it waits for over a minute until the actual editor appears, which doesn't seem normal to me.

Do you have any idea what may be causing this delay?

Best regards,

Craig

PS Environment:
- a Bi-Xeon 3.6 GHz with 2Gb of RAM (so it's not down to a slow machine!)
- Windows XP SP2, Java 1.5.0_06

Hello,

Are there other applications running in background which may slow the computer operation ? If not please contact us at support at oxygenxml dot com or on the Technical support page to tell you how to enable logging of <oXygen/> actions.

Thank you for sending the log file. In case it is useful for other users I will repeat the conclusion here: the delay was caused by a slow host name resolution in a local network. There was a file located on other computer connected to the same local network as the computer running <oXygen/>. That file was opened in a previous session of <oXygen/>, the computer with that file was shutdown, <oXygen> was started again and when <oXygen/> tried to add the path of that file to the history menu File -> Reopen (the progress bar message was "Creating Menu Actions...") the host name was resolved and because that host computer was down this process was slow on that local network.

I hope that helps,
Sorin
