CSS-based PDF: Question about Avoid rules

Post by mdslup » Fri Sep 07, 2018 3:25 am

I have a rule to avoid breaking in the middle of a step, like this:

*[class ~= "task/step"] {
page-break-inside: avoid;
}

My question is: When I am using a 2-column layout, does that rule also tell it to avoid breaking across the column, or does it apply only to breaking across a page? All my testing indicates that the rule also applies to column breaks. If this is the case, is there a way to specify that it's OK to break across a column, but not OK to break across a page?

Hello,

Indeed, the property controls the break on columns and pages at the same time, and there is no workaround for this.
We will take a look to see if this can be implemented to ignore by default the column breaks.

Thank you,
Dan

Thanks.

I would like to be able to control them separately - a column break is not as bad as a page break.

Thanks very much!
