Font rendering issue in Author Mode
Hi,
I am facing issues with Oxygen Author mode. I believe the fonts are not getting rendered properly. The content in text mode looks fine, but when I open Author mode, it shows gibberish characters.
I have tried to reset fonts via Options > Preferences menu and it did not work. Has anyone faced a similar issue? I didn't find anything related to this issue.
Software details: XML Author 16.0, build 2014070913
Regards
Tushar Gupta

Re: Font rendering issue in Author Mode
Hi Tushar,
Uploading to a server a screenshot with how this looks like on your side and linking to it in the forum post might have help.
In the Oxygen Preferences->Fonts page you can configure fonts both for the "Text" editing mode and for the "Author" visual editing mode. If the one for the "Text" editing mode works for you, you can choose to use the same font for the "Author" visual editing mode.
Regards,
Radu

Hi,
Here is the screenshot of the Author mode, https://drive.google.com/open?id=17mqV_ ... Myr4PmFXVG.
I have already tried the Oxygen Preferences->Fonts page, it did not fix the Author mode issue. The text mode is working fine.

Re: Font rendering issue in Author Mode
Hi Tushar,
Couple of things:
1) Could you also try to install our latest Oxygen 19.1 (in a separate location on disk) and see if it works better? You could try to get a trial license key if your license does not cover it.
2) Could you also send me a screenshot with how the "Preferences->Fonts" page looks like on your side?
3) On what operating system are you working?
4) Are you using the default DITA support which comes with Oxygen or some kind of company-specific customizations? For example you may have a custom CSS used for editing DITA in the Author visual editing mode which specifies a custom font to be used for editing.
Regards,
Radu

Hi,
I will try this option.
I will try this option.

A: Yes, I am using a custom CSS. I tried to use oXygen's Stock style-sheet from the Styles menu on the oXygen toolbar and it seems to be working for me. Could you please tell me, how to make a particular style-sheet a default style-sheet for Author mode? If I am able to do this, I guess this will be a workaround, till we figure out the solution for this.3) On what operating system are you working?

Re: Font rendering issue in Author Mode
Hi,
So:
In order to give you details about how to avoid using your custom CSS, I would need to know how you customized the DITA framework, for example does the XML refer to the custom CSS directly or do you have a custom DITA framework customization? If so how did you install the customization?
Regards,
Radu
So:
Then probably that custom CSS defines a specific font-family to use and upgrading to Oxygen 19.1 will probably not fix this. So one option would be to edit that custom CSS (if you know where it is located) and comment out in it the declared "font-family" CSS properties.Yes, I am using a custom CSS.
