Hello,
We plan to enable the actions Split Horizontally and Split Vertically also in Author mode. That means in a future version it will be possible to edit a file in Text mode and Author mode at the same time.
Regards,
Sorin

Hi,
We considered this improvement request but we do not have plans to implement it.
It would take a lot of development effort because these changes would be incompatible with our entire model of page-based editing.
Regards,
Radu

Bumping this request. The reason that I think that a split Author/Editor view would be helpful is CSS development. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi,
I added your vote for it.
What we do internally is that we open the CSS and the XML which is styles with it, then in the Window menu you can choose to tyle editors vertically so that you can see both the CSS and the XML in the Author visual editing mode at the same time. Then after modifying the CSS you can click in the XML document and it should auto refresh if it directly refers to the CSS or you can press F5 in it to force the refresh.

Radu
