Best Practices DITA: XPR, Master files...
Post by schelmenzunft »
Hi there,
considering to use the organizing features of oxygen more than now I wonder if there are some best practices to use XPR files and master files in DITA projects - no CMS involved yet.
Anything you are willing to share?
TIA and Kind regards
Franz-Josef

Re: Best Practices DITA: XPR, Master files...
Hello Franz-Josef,
With Oxygen 18.1 and older there is no benefit of adding your master DITA Maps to the master files folder.
But Oxygen 19 (April-May this year) will change this. Oxygen 19 will allow you to detect the master maps in your DITA project and once you have those added to the master files folder, you will be able to rename/move resources (topics, maps, images) or even rename/move entire folders in the project view and all references in the DITA project will be updated.
We also plan to consider using the master files support to provide the root map (map from which all keys are detected) for the editing context and to allow the "Resource Hierarchy" view to be used also for DITA topics, to see for example all references to a topic in the view. Not sure if we'll do this in Oxygen 19 or in a future version though.
Regards,
Radu
