DITA Map MS Office Word (Experimental)
Post by ann.jensen »
Hi,
I have just starting playing around with the DITA Map MS Office Word (Experimental) plugin that comes bundled win oxygen XML Author. I am wondering if you are providing support for this plugin as in willing to answer questions about customising it?
Thanks in advance,
Ann

Re: DITA Map MS Office Word (Experimental)
Hi Ann,
We are not very familiar with how the plugin works. The plugin is developed by Jarno Elovirta:
https://github.com/jelovirt/com.elovirta.ooxml
I think it would be best to ask on the DITA Users List, if I can help you with advice I will, and best case scenario Jarno will help you.
Regards,
Radu

I just wanted to add another voice to Ann's in saying this is a great plugin!Radu wrote:Hi Ann,

In my workflow I can now maintain very detailed technical FAQ and reference info in DITA XML and create a decent Word file, adding a bit of company branding and formatting by hand (any possibility of adding some of this to the plugin?) and circulating the content for management review in Word and/or PDF.
Please continue the experiment, and let us know how we can help as users.

Hi Michael,
You can help by creating issues for any encountered bugs or if you have improvement suggestions:

Is there an expectation that the plugin will remain in oXygen? I mean, will it someday be removed? It would be very good to know we can rely on some version of this functionality without it disappearing in future.

Hi Michael,
Yes, this plugin will remain in Oxygen in the future. But also if the plugin would not be distributed with the DITA Open Toolkit publishing engine bundled with Oxygen you could have also installed it separately and used it from Oxygen.

Radu
