Cross reference to topic reused across multiple keyscopes

Hi,
I have the following:
- 2 maps for product1 and product2 each with a keyscope defined on them.
- a single topic defined in product1 and reused in product2. The topic content varies slightly based on keys defined in each container map and used in the topic.
- a third topic uses 2 cross references to display links to the 2 instances of the previously mentioned topic. The cross-reference uses a keyref to identify the topic to link to...although both keydefs point to the same topic. I hoped the keyscope of the containing map would help differentiate them.

Is what I am trying to do even possible?
