import projects

Post by annikab »

Hello
I've been searching in the online documentation but there are three things I can't find any informatioon about:
1. Is it possible to import Projects/topics from other webhelp-applicatíons? Such as *.htm, *.xml, *.chm.
2. Is it possible to create an output in a format that makes it possible to give the topic-files to an external translator and then import them back?
3. Is it possible to synchronize two Projects that are in two different languages so when I make Changes in the "homelanguage"-Project I can synchronize it with the other and se where I made Changes?

regards
Annika

Dear Annika,

Please see some answers below:
1. Is it possible to import Projects/topics from other webhelp-applicatíons? Such as *.htm, *.xml, *.chm.
We do not have a batch import functionality. You can copy paste content from the web browser inside a document opened in Oxygen and Oxygen will attempt to convert them to a target vocabulary but there is no batch conversion facility available.
2. Is it possible to create an output in a format that makes it possible to give the topic-files to an external translator and then import them back?
It depends on the XML vocabulary that you are using. If you are using DITA, there are translation agencies which accept the content directly in DITA. Or you can try to convert DITA to XLIFF using an external tool.
3. Is it possible to synchronize two Projects that are in two different languages so when I make Changes in the "homelanguage"-Project I can synchronize it with the other and se where I made Changes?
We do not have this capability. Usually CMSs have such capabilities. We are usually the editing+publishing part of the equation.
