custpdf not appearing unless plugin integrated

Post by AlastairDent »

We have Oxygen 17.1.

I need to use an external DITA-OT installation (DITA-OT 2.2.5 and possibly 2.3 in the near future) with a custom plugin for pdf.

The problem is that without importing and integrating the plugin with the DITA-OT supplied with Oxygen, 'custpdf' does not appear on the DITA Transformation Type list (Configure transformation dialog > click New > select DITA OT transformation).

Is there a way round this? We have multiple authors using Oxygen and I wanted to avoid having to ask them to integrate the plugin into the Oxygen DITA installation then repeat this for an external DITA-OT installation.

Hi Alastair,

You should go to the Oxygen Preferences->DITA page and set up your external DITA OT as the default used DITA OT folder.
Oxygen auto detects all available transformation types from the default DITA OT folder.
It also uses by default that default DITA OT folder when publishing and validating DITA content.

Would you need Run DITA OT Integrator?

Hi Alastair,

Once in the DITA preferences page you point to your external DITA OT, the Oxygen transformation scenario Run DITA OT Integrator will run the integrator in the external DITA OT.
After you run the integrator scenario Oxygen will re-detect all transformation types from the default configured DITA OT folder.
But Oxygen also detects all the available transformation types when it is opened or when you choose another DITA OT external folder.
So running the integrator should be done only when you install a new plugin in the external DITA OT (case in which you need to run the integrator in order for the publishing to work anyway).
