Web Author - Educational?

Post by ttasovac »

Hi.

Congratulations. The new oXygen Web Author looks very spiffy.

Are there really no academic licenses for it? At 200/month, it is way out of the academic price range.

All best,
Toma

Hi Toma,

Thank you for the kind words.

The Academic edition of oXygen is intended for learning XML technology within an academic environment. Unfortunately, we do no have Academic edition also for oXygen XML WebAuthor.

That's a shame. Considering the huge popularity of oXygen in academic circles and considering large investments that academic projects all over the world have made by purchasing oXygen licenses, using oXygen in classrooms and introducing generations of new users to oXygen, your decision to price the WebAuthor out of any reasonable academic range is highly disappointing.

Call me a rainbow-riding hippie, but I always believed SyncRO to be a company that actually cared about the academic market — despite the lower profit margins in that sector. Making the WebAuthor into an enterprise-only product sends a terrible message to those of us in academia who have been championing the use of oXygen in classrooms, at conferences and in scholarly projects for so many years.

All best,
Toma
