Search key words not being highlighted in results page
Post by ann.jensen »
Hi,
I have transformed my DITA files using an external Oxygen webhelp plugin and appear to be seeing the same output as when I transformed using Oxygen WebHelp within Oxygen XML Author.
However, when I use the search (in the web help generated from external plugin) with the keywords 'technical details', the results are correct but when I select one of the resulting pages, it is only highlighting the word 'technical' and not the word 'details'. As I said it does appear to be returning the correct pages for my search keywords but just not highlighting the second of the 2 keywords.
Any advice appreciated.
Ann

Hi,
Thank you for contacting us.
In case you are searching for the keywords 'technical details' the search engine should display all pages that contains at least one of them. Also, both keywords should be highlighted in the pages that contains them. I will add an issue for this.
However, starting with version 17.1 we added support for logical search operators: OR, AND, and NOT.

Hi,
Ok, if now type 'technical AND details' into the search box I see both words highlighted in the results pages.
Do I have to type AND now?
In previous versions I didn't...is that right?
Thanks again,
Ann

Hi,
The AND operator can be used when you want to find a page that includes all of the specified terms. If you search for word1 AND word2, the search mechanism will display only the pages that contains both terms.
OR operator allows you to search for one of the specified terms. word1 OR word2 will display the pages that include one of the terms.
When none of the search operators is specified, OR is used as the default search operator (for example, grow flowers is the same as grow or flowers).

Thanks Radu,
I have to say I preferred the old way where you entered keywords and the results were organized so you saw the results that contained all of the search words and then results that contained some of the search words.
Can you advise how I stick with that search functionality?
Thanks,
Ann

Hi,
I'm afraid that there is no workaround for this issue.
The good news is that this problem has already been resolved and this fix will be included in the next maintenance build, available in one or two weeks.
We will follow up this post when a maintenance build is available.

Hi,
Just to update this thread, the fix should be included in the Oxygen 17.1 kits available on our web sites.
Regards,
Radu
