Problems using "open with" in Max OSX Finder
Post by scottwb »
Hi,
I have a number or problems.
I'm using a registered version of oXygen 2.0.2 with Max OSX 10.2.6.
1. I'm selecting XML files in the Mac Finder and clicking "Open With" and choosing oXygen.
oXygen loads but doesn't open the selected file.
2. Drag an XML file into the oXygen window and it often crashes.
3. Using the eclipse plugin (2.0.2 beta 3) crashes eclipse. I'm using 3.0 M2 which I realise isn't supported yet.
4. I also get the occasional dialog box asking for the licence key, despite browsing to the licence key, oXygen refuses to load. The dialog box stays put.
Any help or workarounds is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,
1. Apple has not implemented correctly the Apple Events in the Java VM. The application is start but is not notified about the file to be loaded, that is why you get that behaviour.
2. We will try to reproduce the crash situation for the drag and drop. A workaround for many Java problems on Mac OS X is to specify into the application bundle the Java version to be used. You can try to modify the info.plist, located into the oxygen.app/Contents/:
Replace this:
<key>JVMVersion</key>
<string>1.3+</string>
With:
<key>JVMVersion</key>
<string>1.3.1</string>
3,4. I have put those on our Bugzilla. I think the license key is requested repeatedly because you are starting the editor from different working directories, for example you are doubleclicking the XML files. I recomend you create a shortcut on the Dock, and start the editor. When you need to edit a file, double clickit. Finder will use for opening the running editor instance.
