unwanted backup files created on load to Vasont

Post by jackvetter »

We use Vasont and oXygen Author 15.2. When we extract a DITA topic out of the database, modify it in oXygen, and load it to Vasont via the oXygen UI dropdown menu (Vasont>Update Vasont Database), a backup copy of the file is created on the local drive. Is there a preference in oXygen, or some other way, to disable the backup file from being created? Thanks!

Hi,

oXygen creates backup copies only for the local files and only for some specific actions.
One action is when you perform a Find/Replace in files operation and you have Make backup files with extension option checked.
The other option that triggers a backup copy is located in Option > Preferences > Editor / Open/Save > Make backup copy on save (only for local files). If this option is selected, a backup copy is made when saving the edited document.

The action you refer to Update Vasont Database is triggered by Vasont connector, so you need to contact Vasont support regarding this issue.
