Oyygen 6.0 (and Java 1.4.2) on Win XP Pro (SP2) - not runnin

Hi

As in title. I have successfully installed Java 1.4.2 JRE from Sun Web site and Oxygen 6.0 on to a Win XP PRo SP2 box.

When I click on the Oxygen shortcut on the desktop or in Start > Programs, I see an hour-glass for a couple of seconds - then nothing. Oxygen editor does not start. No error messages displayed. Nothing.

Any ideas what is wrong?

My mistake

I had installed the Sun JAva 1.5 (aka 5)

I removed the two maintenance packs and XP fell back to using JAve 1.4.2 - proven by settign Interent options and running Sun JAva test

That a simple, clear test that not only shows you that Java is installed but which version - which is important as Oxygen is sensitive to Java VM version.


Now Oxygen starts fine under winXP.

Hi,

We reported the problem with the dialogs to Sun and it is logged as a bug here:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bu ... id=6285105
We also managed to implement a workaround for the next release, which will be a version 6 maintenance release, oXygen 6.1.
