Offer MDI view
Post by nachtkinder »
I work for a large company and have trialled oXygen as a potential replacement for Altova's XMLSpy product.
I am used to the tabbed interface to multiple open files from working with such products as Homesite. However other potential users of oXygen find the MDI (Multiple Document Interface?) view as used by XMLSpy more comfortable/useful. This small issue is perhaps the final barrier to adoption of oXygen over XMLSpy.
Would it be possible to offer a choice of interface between tabbed and MDI views?

Hi Nachtkinder,
Unfortunately providing a MDI interface is not a trivial change and will require quite a large amount of work. We plan to add support for user configurable layout in the future versions of oXygen. On the other hand, the same oXygen license allows you to use any of the standalone version or the Eclipse plugin version and if you use the Eclipse plugin version you can take advantage of the user configurable layout offered by Eclipse: you can drag and drop any view or editor in any part of the screen you want it to be.
Best Regards,
George
