<xsl:apply-templates> result?

In Internet Explorer and other XSLT processors, the result of apply-templates is to move to the next node from the current node without printing the text content of the node. While in Oxygen the behavior is to print the text and then move to the next node, isn't that is what happens as part of the built in rule?

Yes, I guess it is a default template that generates that text, see
http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt#built-in-rule

<xsl:value-of select="."/>
</xsl:template>

If you do not want that then add a noop template matching the text and attribute nodes to your stylesheet, like below:
<xsl:template match="text()|@*"/>
