Is there an easy way to add a global text entity?

Post by pcelmer »

I would like to add a text entity and have that entity show up in the entity viewer for all the .xml files referenced by my ditamap.

I tried the help files...."insert text entity" "text entity" "insert entity", etc. :(

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

If you want to have the entity available in all types of DITA topics I think you have to add it to the built-in DTDs of DITA OT which is embedded in Oxygen, for example in the file:

Code: Select all

[Oxygen-install-dir]/frameworks/dita/DITA-OT/dtd/technicalContent/dtd/uiDomain.ent

Hi Paul,

Use of entities is highly discouraged when editing DITA topics:

If you want to reuse content you can use the DITA mechanism of conrefs, keyrefs and conkeyrefs.

Thanks!

I used phrase tags set up in a table in a topic and now can reference that.

Thanks again!
