How to save webdav files locally?

Post by pcelmer »

I have a large book. I have it set up to connect WebDav, but I would like to take the entire project including all bookmaps, ditamaps, graphics, etc. and transform the book locally. How can I simply point to the bookmap and have all files copied and saved locally?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

We have a view called "Data Source Explorer" in which you can configure a WebDav connection.
But right now we do not have actions to export selected folders to the local file system.

I do not understand the user case entirely.
If you want to have the DITA content locally only for publishing it, this is not necessary. If you use Oxygen 13.1 or newer, you can open the DITA Map in the DITA Maps Manager view directly from the WebDav repository and if the transformation scenario has the output and temporary files folders configured to be on the local drive you should be able to publish directly from the remote location.

If you want to get the DITA content locally for another reason you will have to find and install a Webdav Client and export the content with it to the local file system.
We'll try to add an "Export" action to our existing WebDav support in a future version.

Hi,

Just to update this thread, in Oxygen 18.0 you can export a folder locally from a WebDav connection configured in the Data Source Explorer.
