Change spelling error annotation colour in Author/Text view?

Post by iew »

Hello,

I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered. I could not find anything related using the forum search.

Is there a way to change the colour or style of the spelling error highlighting used in the Author and Text views? By default, the colour of the underline in the Author view is very difficult to see. In native Eclipse editors, the colour and style for the annotation can be changed, but modifying this preference does not change the style used by the oXygen editor.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

In the standalone edition of Oxygen you can change the color of the spelling error highlighting from:
Options > Preferences, Editor > Spell Check, Spell check highlight color.

In the Oxygen Eclipse plugin you can change the color and the style of the spelling error highlighting from Window > Preferences, General Editors > Text Editors > Annotations, Spell Check Annotation.
It seems the latter is not documented. I've submitted this fact to our issue tracking tool to be corrected.

Hi Adrian,

Thank you very much for your reply. I had already modified this Eclipse editor preference, and the change did not seem to have any effect on the oXygen editor. The Author view still shows the native dotted orange underline, and the Text view still shows a solid orange underline as before.

Is there an additional step I need to do for this to propagate to the oXygen editor?

Hi,

I've tested this in v14.0 and it worked fine. The Author mode seems to ignore the style of the highlight, but it uses the correct color. In text mode both color and style are used.

What version and build number of the Oxygen plugin are you using (Window > Preferences > oXygen)?

Ah, sorry about that, I had changed the 'Spelling errors' colour earlier. Now, after changing the 'Spell Check Annotation', the Text view does use the modified style. However, I still cannot seem to get any response for the Author view (which appears as a very very light pink or red 'Native Problem Underline'.

I am on XML Author14.0, build: 2012070512.

You're absolutely right, it is using the colour of the 'Spell Check Annotation' (which I set to pink), but is still using the 'Native Problem Underline' style.

Any idea how I can get it to use the style I choose in the annotation preference?

Hi,

Like I said before, the Author mode ignores the style and uses only the color set there. This is the way it was implemented and unfortunately I don't see a workaround for this.

I've logged this to our issue tracking tool to investigate and resolve in a future version of Oxygen.
