DITA-OT Customization directory

Post by surangamas »

Hi, I saw a diretory in DITA-OT\demo\fo called "Customization," so I naturally assumed that this was the place that hosts customized settings. However, when I tried to migrate my custom settings by saving my custom files there, the customized settings did not reflect on the output. Yet, if I placed my custom files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Oxygen XML Author 13\frameworks\dita\DITA-OT\demo\fo\cfg\ , then all my custom settings showed up in the PDF output.

I'd like to store my custom files in the Customization subdirectory, how do I make it work? Thanks.

Hi,

Please see these steps I published on another forum thread a while ago:

http://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/post1864 ... dir#p18642

The steps are for having a customization directory in a folder outside the DITA OT, thus making it easier to upgrade the DITA OT to a newer version.
Basically steps (3) and (4) are the most important, step (3) activates your customization and step (4) makes it possible for you to overwrite templates from the custom.xsl.

Hi Radu: Thanks for the reply. Just out of curiosity: What is the purpose of having a Customization subdirectory inside the DITA-OT folder? What does that subdirectory do anyway? Thanks.

Hi,

If you look at step (5) in the link I gave you, it involved setting a customization.dir parameter which pointed to your customization folder.
If you do not set that parameter at all (default behavior), by default the customization folder will be considered to be the one from the DITA OT.
