F3 searches forward but shift-F3 does not search backwards

CTRL-F3 should automatically search for the next instance of what is highlighted.
I use both of these a lot.. problem is they don't work in a lot of applications

Also, the Find/Replace dialog doesn't have the option to search backwards. When you're searching in a large XML file and you accidentally go forward to the next instance and you want to easily go back to the last instance without scrolling or searching from the top again, this is a pain!
