Oxygen Editor on Atom processor doesn't launch

Post by ou_ryperd »

Hi
I have recently acquired an Atom Netbook. It is a 64 bit machine, but running a 32 bit Windows 7 Starter OS. The JVM is Sun/Oracle 1.6.0_26 32 bit.

When Launching Oxygen 8.2, I get a Windows dialog that says:

<oXygen/> XML Editor 8.2 has stopped working
Windows can check online for sa solution to the problem.
->Check online for a solution
->Close the program

I have tried running oxygen.bat but it has the same effect. I have also tried using a oxygen.vmoptions file to no avail.

Any ideas ?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

Please note that Oxygen XML Editor 8.2(released in May 2007) is not officially supported in Windows 7(launched in October 2009).

I see that you have already Installed a version of Java SE 6 Runtime Environment(JRE) 32-bit from Oracle. To have Oxygen use this, go to the Oxygen installation folder and rename or move the "jre" folder. This will bypass Oxygen's built-in JRE so that the system installed JRE will be used.

If this doesn't give results, please try running Oxygen with the 32-bit Java Runtime Environment(JRE) 5.0 Update 22 from Oracle(formerly from Sun):

If all else fails you can always purchase an upgrade to the latest version of Oxygen, v13, which supports Windows 7.
