Ouline view elides <gap/> element

Can anyone explain why the <gap/> element in the following example is shown in the Outline view when in Text mode but not in Author mode?

Hi,

In the CSS files (which were provided by the TEI developers) used to render TEI, the <gap> is specified with display:none which makes it invisible both in the Author page and the Outline.
We will fix this probably in the next version.
In the meantime, you can open the OXYGEN_INSTALL_DIR/frameworks/tei/xml/tei/css/tei_oxygen.css and add the following code at the end of the file:

    display: morph;

    content: "[...]";

    font-style: italic;

}

gap:after {

    content: "";

}

Then reopen the TEI XML files.
