small GUI issue on Mac

When I do a save as and I click in the "save as"-window on an existing file (text.rdf) of the filesystem only the part before the extension (test) is copied.
Most of the time I end up with a file without file extension next to the file I did want to overwrite.
Or is there a rationale behind this behavior?

Hello,

I think it is a general OS X GUI feature of the Save As dialog in most OS X applications. For example Safari, TextEdit, Eclipse, etc. also copy only the file name to the text field without the extension.
