Hello,

What do you mean by "explanation"? Do you mean that you have a DITA map and you want to transform it to XHTML output format so that the list of topics of that map is displayed on the left side of the page and the content of the selected topic in the list is displayed on the right side of the same page? No, that is not available. The table of contents of the DITA map containing all topics is displayed on a separate page and a click on a topic opens the page of that topic. If you want to group the table of contents and the topic contents on the same page you have to customize the DITA XSL stylesheets that come with DITA Open Toolkit.

Hi Gaurav,

This forum thread was last updated about 13 years ago.
Maybe you should start a new forum post explaining what you would want to achieve, what version of Oxygen and of the DITA OT publishing engine you are using and to what output format you are publishing.
There is also documentation available for the DITA Open Toolkit:
https://www.dita-ot.org/dev/topics/html ... ugins.html
and a DITA Users List with lots of DITA users registered on it:
https://dita-users.groups.io/g/main

Hello Radu,

First of all thank you for replying!

I don't see the option for creating a new forum. so, I have to comment here only. My bad for that!

Here are the details of the oxygen in my system:
Version: XML Editor 16.1
DITA OT publishing engine: how to check this?

My query : I want to customize the xhtml output when I am creating that output through the Dita map file.
As, when I am creating the output, it shows me nothing except the content. I want to add proper bookmarks, navigation tabs, TOCs, logos and many other things that appear with the pdf and webhelp output.

I have also read some of the links related to my query here in the oxygen forum. One of them was related to creating the TOC part in the output but I think for that Ineed to make some inside changes in the oxygen properties inside its application folder.

Please let me know the entire process to customize an entire xhtml output which is created by using DITA map files as source files.
What is the entire process? and provide alternative solutions too if there are any, that would be really helpful!

Thanks and Regards,
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav,
Please see some answers below:
I don't see the option for creating a new forum. so, I have to comment here only. My bad for that!
You can go to a specific forum channel like "DITA Publishing" and click the "New topic" button:
dita-editing-and-publishing-dita-content/
Here are the details of the oxygen in my system:
Version: XML Editor 16.1
I'm afraid Oxygen 16 which was released about 9 years ago is no longer officially supported by us in any way.
https://www.oxygenxml.com/eol.html
DITA OT publishing engine: how to check this?
In the Oxygen main menu Help->"About" there is a "Frameworks" tab where you can find out the DITA Open Toolkit version
My query : I want to customize the xhtml output when I am creating that output through the Dita map file.
As, when I am creating the output, it shows me nothing except the content. I want to add proper bookmarks, navigation tabs, TOCs, logos and many other things that appear with the pdf and webhelp output.
How about if you use the DITA to WebHelp output format bundled by default with Oxygen? I'm afraid we do not provide step by step instructions about how such an output can be obtained.
For PDF customizations there is a book named "DITA For Print": https://xmlpress.net/publications/dita/dita-for-print/
I have also read some of the links related to my query here in the oxygen forum. One of them was related to creating the TOC part in the output but I think for that Ineed to make some inside changes in the oxygen properties inside its application folder.
If you edit the transformation scenario you use in Oxygen to obtain HTML output, in the "Parameters" tab there is a parameter named "nav-toc" which can be set to output a navigation table of contents in all HTML files:
https://www.dita-ot.org/dev/topics/html ... ation.html
There is also an "args.css" parameter which can be set to add a custom CSS file in all the published HTML files.
More recent DITA Open Toolkit publishing engines (bundled with more recent Oxygen versions) allow you to publish DITA content to Markdown and then you can use a static web site generator like MKDocs to publish that Markdown content:
https://blog.oxygenxml.com/topics/publi ... rator.html

Hey Radu!

Thanks for the last response!

DITA Open Tool kit version: 1.8.5
Actually, my priority for now is xhtml output only as per the dita map file.
I just wanted to check the possible ways to customize the output specifically for xhtml.
Please let me know if there is any possible way to customize the xhtml output using the dita xml as the source file.

By end result what I want is to have all kinds of menus, navigations, breadcrums, colours, logos, bookmarks etc.
Is there a possible way to do that with my oxygen version or any other version?

Thanks and Regards,
Gaurav
