${id} variable for code templates

Post by jawalsh »

Perhaps this already exists, but I couldn't find it in the documentation. It would be very helpful to have something like an ${id} variable that would insert a randomly generated unique ID into a code template snippet. Is this possible? Does it already exist? Thanks.

Hello,

We will consider adding an ${id} variable. There is an oXygen plugin available on the Community page (see the bottom of the page) for inserting a UUID at the cursor position. After installing the plugin you have to right click and select the plugin from the submenu Plugins of the contextual menu. We will consider also allowing setting a shortcut for an oXygen plugin from Options -> Preferences -> Menu Shortcut Keys.
