Workspace autosaving in Oxygen Author

Post by honyk »

Hello Everyone,

if in OE9 there are rearranged toolbars or palletes, this setting is stored for next run. But this doesn't work in Oxygen Author 10 trial version. All changes in GUI are discarded on close. Is it bug or limitation of trial? Vista 32bit is used in my case.

Hello,

The layout should be saved as user preference and restored when the application is restarted both in version 9 and in version 10. It is not a limitation of the trial license and I cannot reproduce the problem on Windows XP and Vista. What changes did you apply to the layout so that I can try the same changes for reproducing the problem?

Thanks for quick reply. I've changed position of several toolbars (rearrange), closed DITA maps manager and Project view. All this is back after restart of app.

What do you mean all this is back? Do you mean the views that you closed are displayed again after restart? I closed the two views, I moved some toolbars and the new workspace layout is remembered when I restart the application. The two views that I closed stay closed both on XP and on Vista.

Can you post here the system properties copied from the Help -> About dialog, the System properties tab?

Behaviour you are describing is different in my case. After launch of app the workspace is the same like just after install. Any custom change is not stored. It is strange, but probably relative only to my OS. Datails are below:

I tried again to reproduce the problem on a Windows Vista computer but it worked correctly: the modified layout was remembered on restart.

Did you set a fixed layout from Preferences -> Perspective Layout -- Use fixed layout? In that case the fixed layout that you set in Preferences is always loaded on restart. That is a possible cause for ignoring your workspace layout changes.

Thanks, it worked like a charm. It was set by mistake during solving the following issue: http://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/topic3668.html

Thanks for your effort.
