Slow startup with Oxygen 9.3

Post by keriks99 »

Hi all!

I'm experiencing very slow startup times with Oxygen 9.3. First of all it takes several seconds after starting the program until the splash-screen appears with the status bar, and then the actual loading of Oxygen takes almost 1 minute!

I do not experience any other performance problems with other applications on my computer, and I have no open files that Oxygen needs to open upon startup.

I suspect that the menu File - Reopen might have something to do with this, as there are several files in that list. Could this be the problem?

Any way to delete/empty this list?
Other hints?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

That caused delay problems at startup for other users so we should check out that possibility. The standard way to empty the list is to open at least 30 local files in Oxygen so that the current files from the Reopen menu are replaced with new entries. Just go to menu File -> Open, in the file open dialog go to a folder with many files, select at least 30 files using the mouse and the Shift key and open all the files selected in the dialog by pressing OK. Close all the files that were opened by right clicking on a file tab and selecting Close All. Restart Oxygen and see if the startup time is shorter now.

Hi Sorin,

That actually works! The loading step that took almost a minute before (Creating menu actions) now is only a blink:)

Thanks a lot!

I will need to remember to this this every now and then to refresh the Reopen-list.

Hello,

The delay is caused by a file located on a network share which is disconnected or is accessed by a very slow connection when Oxygen is started. You should either check the connection to the network share or remove that file from the Reopen menu to fix the delay problem.
